Thousands of people gathered again on Friday night in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, to demonstrate against the country’s authoritarian leadership.
The protests continued for the ninth day, even though the prime minister Irakli Kobakhidze already had time to declare that he had defeated the “liberal fascists”.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia said on Friday that it has again arrested protesters for involvement in violence. They face up to nine years in prison. In total, there are around 300 people arrested. Among them are, for example, opposition leaders.
The protests began last week after Kobakhidze announced he would freeze the country’s EU negotiations.
