Demolition ruined the chance of victory – Fredricson is waiting for the victory

During the Saturday evening, the international time jumping took place and in advance there were hopes that it would be a Swede who got to step on top of the podium for the first time during the Sweden International Horse Show.

But the victory was not forthcoming – despite several impressive efforts.

Malin Baryard-Johnsson stepped out and showed an overall fine jumping, but a costly demolition crushed the chances of an advanced placement and the same applies to Rolf-Göran Bengtsson, who finished in seventh place.

Even closer was Olympic hero Peder Fredricson, who set a good pace and looked to be moving into an unthreatened lead. But at the penultimate hurdle, Fredricson and the stallion Sv Vroom de La Pomme Z incurred a costly hurdle error.

The obstacle error proved costly for Fredricson, who would have won the class otherwise. Instead, it was Wilma Hellström and the gelding Quinti Von Hof who became the best Swedish team in third place.

The eventual winner was Jérôme Guery and his mare Come Away Flamingo Z, who landed in a time of 55.02 in his flawless ride.
