An elderly person with dementia chose to repeatedly refuse the home service’s visit to his home in Gothenburg. At the same time as attempts were made to visit the man, the company underwent a reorganization which resulted in the person not getting enough food, which was not noticed.
Demented person was given no food – risks death
It all resulted in the person suffering from nutritional deficiency and kidney failure as a result of the lack of food intake. After it was noticed, she needed to seek care and in a lex Sarah report, which News24 taken note of, the incident was caused by the regular staff not being present, but instead new staff without knowledge of the illness tried to get to the person’s home, without success.
The person is still being treated in hospital for the injuries he sustained. According to the Siren news agency, it is still unclear whether the person will even survive the incident.
