“ Hundreds of years of US domination of the Global South have converged to produce an intolerable social order “. This sentence is the one said in 1969 by a certain Carl Oglesby, one of the figures of the American student movement opposed to the war in Vietnam. He was the first to use the expression “Global South”. And since then, “Global South” has been increasingly used by media and world leaders. This term is used to refer to countries which are more or less harshly opposed to Western positions, particularly American ones. What purpose ?
