The armed forces rented cottages owned by Russian politicians with connections to the Kremlin during the latest NATO exercise in Northern Norway, the defense confirms to TT.

A representative of the cottage village has said that the defense rented two cottages with a total of 32 sleeping places for two weeks in March.

The cabins’ Russian owners were revealed by Norwegian TV2 last week. The cottages are located in a military sensitive area near Bardufoss military airport. The Norwegian Defense Forces have also rented the cabins. Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre has said that the country needs to review its security thinking due to the disclosure.
