Who bought a toy shelf for $6.3 million? Palmer Luckey is a 31-year-old American billionaire whose fortune is estimated by Forbes at $2.3 billion. He is best known in the gaming scene for founding the VR company Oculus. However, he now works primarily in the defense industry.

What kind of garage is this? His collection of fine cars from the past decades is now so large that he decided to build a garage opposite his luxury villa in Newport Beach, California, which costs around 12.5 million US dollars. Forbes also reports this.
He bought a house and the space for about 3.8 million US dollars and had the property completely renovated for another 2.5 million US dollars. Four gigantic elevators for the cars are planned for the total 650 square meters of floor space.
The sole purpose of the building is to present and store its fleet of vintage cars. But after its completion in late summer 2023, disillusionment followed.

The billionaire has filed a lawsuit in the Superior Court of California County of Orange against the construction company responsible for the renovation and against the designers of the elevators. Among other things, the car elevators were not built by hand as promised, but were purchased cheaply as mass-produced goods in China.
Both defendants deny the allegations and point to the successful acceptance of the building in August 2023. However, the boss of Custom Cabs, the elevator designers, should know that at least one of the four elevators could have a problem.
According to Luckey’s lawyer, he was in the elevator when the billionaire himself was trapped there as a prisoner in his giant toy garage.
