The last time Miro Heiskanen scored two goals in one game was in August 2020. The two-goal night was the fourth of the Finnish defender’s career in the NHL.

Finnish defender Miro Heiskanen scored two goals when the Dallas Stars he represented defeated the Ottawa Senators in overtime 4–3 in the hockey league NHL.

Heiskanen, 23, got up to speed in his home court after only five minutes of play and got the puck into the net twice in one minute and 48 seconds.

The two-goal night was the fourth of Heiskanen’s NHL career. The last time he scored two goals was in an August 2020 playoff match. Heiskanen has not yet done a hat trick in his career.

According to the NHL, Heiskanen scored two goals faster than any Dallas Stars defenseman in 21 years. The Dallas defense record is held Sergei Zubovwho in 2001 scored two goals only 57 seconds apart.

Before the Ottawa match, Heiskanen had scored three goals in 23 matches of the season. He has recorded 16 assists.

Dallas lost its 2–0 lead at the end of the opening set and found itself in a chasing position in the final set. However, the Texans took the decision to overtime when Nils Lundkvist tied the score at 3–3 Roope Hintz from a pass in the 55th minute of the game.

Hintz, who has been playing cheerfully lately, also assisted Heiskanen’s opening goal. Earlier this week, Hintz scored the second hat trick of his NHL career.

Dallas’ victory was decided Tyler Seguin in the fifth minute of overtime.

Dallas, which started the season strongly, is third in the NHL’s Western division.

Luostarinen had a hit in Florida’s win

The Florida Panthers beat the Detroit Red Wings 5-1 at home.

Eetu Luostarinen scored his seventh goal of the season and Florida’s lead 2–0 in the second period.

Florida’s goal was first interpreted by the Finnish captain Alexander Barkov to do, but the slow-motion picture showed that it was directed to the finish line by Luostarinen. For Barkov, who took the serve point, the match was the first after a break of a couple of weeks. He was sidelined for six matches due to illness.

On the other hand, there was worrying information about the Carolina Hurricanes: a Finnish forward Sebastian Aho did not practice with the team on Thursday due to a lower body injury. Carolina plays its next game local time on Saturday as a guest of the New York Islanders.

– He is suffering from a small lower body injury, so we are monitoring the situation. If he is unable to practice on Friday, he will not play against the Islanders, commented the head coach Rod Brind’Amour.

The Finns did not reach the power points in the other three NHL games of the night. The Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Nashville Predators 5–2, the Toronto Maple Leafs also by a large margin 5–0, and the Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets beat the St. Louis Blues 5–2.
