After Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, thousands of people had to leave their countries and go to other countries. The world is talking about the 11-year-old boy who took refuge in another country alone from Ukraine, where the humanitarian drama took place. The 11-year-old boy, who had to leave his family in Ukraine, traveled 1,200 kilometers alone to Slovakia. The little boy was declared a hero by the Slovak Ministry of Internal Affairs.
HE HAS COVERED HIGH WAYS ALONE
An 11-year-old Ukrainian boy came alone to the Slovak border, about 1,200 kilometers from the city of Zaporizhia, as his family had to stay in Ukraine. The boy, who only had a backpack, a bag and a passport, was met at the border by Slovak authorities. While the Slovak authorities met the child’s needs such as food and heating, they handed the child over to his relatives by calling the phone number written on his hand by his family. It was not disclosed how the child came to the border.
ANNOUNCED ‘HERO’
The boy, who came to the Slovakia-Ukraine border separately from his family, was declared a hero by the Slovak Ministry of Internal Affairs. The ministry’s social media account shared, “He won with his smile, fearlessness and determination of a true hero. He is a hero.”
According to the information given by Michal Slivka, Spokesperson of the Slovak Police Presidency, 140 thousand 700 people have entered Slovakia since the beginning of the Russian attacks, while the majority of the refugees did not stay in Slovakia and went to their relatives in other countries, especially in the Czech Republic. In addition, many third-country nationals use Slovakia to flee from Ukraine. About 8,517 people have applied for temporary protection in Slovakia after crossing the Slovak-Ukrainian border, Slovakian Interior Minister Roman Mikulec said on Friday.
