Decisive week ahead for Harris

It’s been two weeks since Joe Biden announced that he was dropping out of the presidential race for the November election. Since then, the vice president, Kamala Harris, has begun an intensive campaign to become the next president of the United States – and received a great response.

On Monday, Harris will formally become the Democratic nominee, when online delegate voting closes. Then the deadline for her decision on who will be her campaign partner is reached on Tuesday.

According to several anonymous sources to The New York Times On Sunday, she meets at least three top candidates for the vice-presidential post at her residence in Washington. According to the newspaper, they are Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona, Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota and Governor Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania.

According to sources to CNN Walz is said to be the most likely candidate at the moment.

“We are the underdogs in this race”

The choice of vice-presidential candidate is of great importance and generally tends to be met with both criticism and praise. At the same time reporting American media that Kamala Harris shined with her absence around questions from the press and longer interviews, and put all the focus on public appearances.

“We’re the underdogs in this race,” the campaign’s campaign manager, Dan Kanninen, told reporters last week, echoing a phrase Harris himself has emphasized. “But the great support around the vice president is real, and it makes sense. Our task now is to translate that enthusiasm into action.”

Refuses debate

This weekend, Donald Trump announced that he will skip an ABC debate with Harris on September 10, he wants them to meet on Fox News on September 4 instead. Harris’ campaign says they are sticking to the original date, after which Trump wrote on social media: “I will see her on September 4th or I will not see her at all.”

During the night of Sunday, Swedish time, Trump and the vice-presidential candidate JD held. Vance campaign speech in Atlanta, Georgia, where Harris spoke earlier this week. There, Trump focused on elevating his vice presidential candidate, who he said is doing a “good job.”

Meanwhile, the maids persisted with Harris: “Now they say, ‘Oh, isn’t she lovely, isn’t she lovely?’ No, she’s not wonderful,” Trump said, continuing:

“So we have to work hard to limit her.”
