The sound must be turned back in clubs, concert halls and sports clubs, a place where the sound is often very loud. Stokroos put it to the test and visited the Ultimate Fit gym in Veenendaal to hear how loud the noise is there.
In the early morning, the music booms from the speakers during a group lesson. “We need this, if you sit through it for a while, you pull yourself up to the music, wonderful,” says a participant. Stokroos thinks the noise level is fine. “I just checked it out and it’s about 80 decibels. Very nice, and it does exactly what it’s supposed to do.”
Kevin Schoeman, the owner of the gym indeed says that the music is really part of it. “People like that. In the evening it sometimes goes a little harder, because you also have to be able to feel it.” He turns the volume knob to show how this sounds. Stokroos: “I think this is about 95 decibels, that’s just about right.” However, the owner and staff have to be careful, he says. “Working in this is not healthy. When Kevin is a bit older, he can have problems with his hearing and tinnitus.”
