(Finance) – Snam has selected the five winning startups that will participate in the acceleration process of third edition of HyAccelerator, a global business accelerator dedicated to hydrogen and decarbonization technologies, which aims to support startups and SMEs active in the sector. The program, with a focus on 7 areas along the hydrogen value chain, from production to end use, which this year resulted in the call4startup Decarbonization Nexus, saw the application of more than 50 startups from all over the world. The objective – explains Snam in a note – is to identify the most promising technologies that could support Snam but also the entire supply chain in achieving the ambitious decarbonisation objectives.
There word “Nexus” recalls the concept of connection and collaboration that has always been enhanced through the program, whose edition this year will be supported by all the companies of the Snam Group.
The selected startups, operating along the entire value chain of hydrogen and, more generally, of decarbonisation such as production, transport, storage and end uses of the technologies presented are: the Swedish Terrabarrier, which offers an innovative technology that creates ultra-dense barriers in metal alloys; the Dutch Elestor, which demonstrated a hydrogen-bromine flow battery capable of storing energy over long durations; the French Sakowin, which introduced a solution for producing hydrogen through a methane plasmalysis process; the German Reverion, capable of offering an integrated solution that electrochemically converts hydrogen or biogas into electricity and high purity CO2; the American C-Zero, which illustrated an innovative form of methane pyrolysis that converts natural gas into hydrogen and carbon black.
The selected startups will take part in two different phases: during the first they will engage for two months with the HyAccelerator team and its partners for mutual understanding, technical insights and mentoring sessions; during the second, two of the five winners will continue the journey for four months through the analysis of a use case of the startup’s technological application in the Snam ecosystem.
Participating startups will benefit from a mentorship path by experts in the field, as well as for two of the five of technical and economic support for a total duration of six months.
