Deaths and flight cancellations as cold snap hits US

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The United States is currently being plagued by a serious winter storm that affects around 200 million Americans – around 60 percent of the population. At least nine deaths can be linked to the storm, which has caused at least 9,000 flights to be canceled and this morning around one million households are still without electricity.

Coldest Christmas Eve

A winter storm that only happens once in a generation – that’s how the storm that paralyzes the US for the third day in a row is described. New York will have the coldest Christmas Eve since 1906.

Most of the deaths reported have occurred on icy roads with car tires made for completely different temperatures. Thousands of flights have had to be canceled and many motorways are closed ahead of the Christmas celebrations.
