The death toll rises from 33 to 60 after this week’s clashes between two different ethnic groups in Sudan, authorities say. 163 people were injured.

The riots began on Monday in the state of an-Nil al-Azraq (Blue Nile) in the southeast. Information about what caused the violence between the two ethnic groups, Hausa and Birta, is divided.

The military junta that controls Sudan has sent the infamous military force RSF to restore order in the area. A ban on gathering and a night curfew have also been introduced.
