Death toll rises after shipwreck off Yemen

At least 49 people – including several children and women – have died when a boat with migrants has sunk in the sea off Yemen, according to the UN migration agency IOM.

“At least 49 migrants have died and 140 are still missing after a boat capsized,” the IOM said in a statement.

There are said to have been 260 people on board the boat, most of whom were Somali or Ethiopian citizens.
