The away team lost 2–2 to 2–6 in the second half, on Friday evening, and shortly after the end of the match, several players and leaders in IFK Kalmar received death threats on email and social media.
“It’s a nasty email, which shows a total lack of respect for people and what we’re doing,” says sports manager Tommy Nyberg.
The incident has been reported to the police.
— The police say it is a serious threat. We also think that we should speak out in the media because this is completely against everything that IFK Kalmar stands for. Over the years, we have worked hard for socially sustainable issues and this goes against that, says chairman Brynielsson.
— We hope that this is a one-off. If it is not, then of course we have to have a discussion with the police and what measures are needed.
