Composer, pianist and member of the group Rouquine, Nino Vella died at the age of 31.

He was half of the group Rouquine: Nino Vella died at his Parisian home on Monday July 1, reveals The Western Mail this Tuesday. The local daily newspaper specifies that the musician “died suddenly” according to his father, a correspondent for the newspaper. Aged 31, the composer, pianist, performer and producer from Cholet had founded the electro-pop group Rouquine with Sébastien Rousselet, revealed by winning the show The Artist from France 2 and who had just released his second album, Mammalsin March 2024. They were both due to go on tour in 2025.

Our thoughts go out to his family and friends. May his music continue to accompany us,” wrote the Sony Music label on social media. For the time being, no further information on the circumstances of the tragedy has been communicated by Nino Vella’s family or loved ones.

Born on November 18, 1992 in Cholet, the artist had also composed many hits for others, from Claudio Capéo to Patrick Bruel, including Eddy de Pretto, Yseult, Olivia Ruiz and rappers Boostee and Lord Esperanza. A trained pianist, Nino Vella began his career by composing for theater and documentaries. During the lockdown, he offered his soundtrack to the Netflix film How I Became a Superheroby Douglas Attal, with Pio Marmai, Leila Bekhti and Benoit Poelvoorde.
