Deadpool & Wolverine is on track to become the most successful film of the year, but there is a massive hurdle

When Deadpool & Wolverine hits theaters at the end of July, we’re almost certain to get one of the most successful films of the year. Maybe the superhero spectacle will even be the box office hit of 2024. Initial forecasts predict unprecedented box office numbers for the blockbuster starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.

First box office forecast for Deadpool & Wolverine is unbelievable

According to Deadline, initial projections suggest that the new Deadpool installment will gross could gross between $200 and $239 million. The Quorum website, which estimates such figures in advance and is considered highly reliable in the industry, even makes a modest estimate. The number could end up being even higher.

As Deadline further explains, there has never been an R-rated film in history that has grossed $200 million at opening. The previous record holder is the first Deadpool film, which grossed $132.4 million in the US at the time.

Deadpool & Wolverine could the most successful film of the summer and maybe even of the year would be, if there weren’t current competition standing in the way. The Pixar sequel Inside Out 2, which unlike the Marvel film is approved for all age groups, has already grossed over 438 million dollars worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo. And that’s not the end of the animated film’s success story.

When does Deadpool & Wolverine come to theaters?

At the July 24, 2024 The superhero spectacle will be released in German cinemas on 14th June. The US release will follow two days later, after which it will be decided how successful the next Deadpool film really will be.
