The environment and building committee in Bollnäs has grown tired of a summer restaurant in the municipality that for several summers had problems keeping clean after rodents that ravaged the building. Now the committee has decided on a running fine of SEK 30,000 every time the inspectors discover that the problems have not been fixed.
Last summer
Already last summer, the restaurant received remarks for its poor hygiene from the municipality. They then received an order to tighten the cleaning routines.
When the municipality visited the restaurant at the end of June, the problems were the same, even though the responsible staff at the site stated that the premises had been cleaned. During a renewed inspection a few days later, a dead rodent was found under a kitchen counter and even more rodent droppings.
Lack of cleaning
Last Friday, the Building and Environment Committee decided to impose a fine on the restaurant if the cleaning routines are not improved and measures are taken to prevent pests from entering the building.
– Since a dead rodent under a kitchen counter had been missed during cleaning in the kitchen, routines for cleaning and detection of pests are judged to be deficient, writes Fredrik Palmborn Olofsson, chairman of the Environment and Building Committee in his decision.
