Dead by Daylight gets the most disgusting killer since the game’s launch

The newest killer in Dead by Daylight is gross – very gross. But he also brings with him a pretty lady who will soon become the new “Main” for many.

Over the last few weeks, Dead by Daylight has clearly set itself the goal of bringing horror back into the game. The “Light’s Out” mode already brought back the terror – but the latest killer is likely to take it up a notch.

Because “The Unknown” is probably one of the sickest and scariest killers the game has produced so far.

And survivors can also be happy, because many players will have found their new “main” in the “All Things Wicked” chapter – because Dead by Daylight finally gets a real goth girl in “Sable Ward”.

This is what the new killer “The Unknown” can do

Visually, “The Unknown” is already pretty hard to stomach. A disfigured and distorted human body marching towards the survivors with an evil grin and very jerky, twitching movements.

Like most modern killers, “The Unknown” has several abilities that interact with each other in a relatively complex way. Other than that, the killer seems average. A terror radius of 32 meters and a normal movement speed (115%).

First of all, the killer can charge a projectile and then fire it. The bullet ricochets off walls and then explodes in a small area. If survivors are hit by the explosion for the first time, they will receive the “Weakened” debuff and a second hit will then deal damage to them. Survivors can remove the debuff by staring at the killer long enough.

In addition, the killer creates illusions of himself at regular intervals, which appear after a short time. These mirages can be used as teleportation to quickly move around the map.

Survivors can remove these illusions by interacting with them. If they fail, for example because they have to cancel the action, they are weakened and trigger the killer instinct effect for a few seconds so that the killer can track them down.

And to keep things creepy, you can sometimes hear The Unknown talking in different voices – presumably the sounds of former victims.

The perks of The Unknown, the new killer

The Unknown, like all killers, comes with 3 of its own perks. Initially only he can use these perks, but they can later be unlocked for all survivors through the prestige system.

  • Unbound: This perk activates for 24 / 27 / 30 seconds after you wound a survivor in any way. After climbing through a window, you receive a 5% haste buff for 10 seconds. This effect does not stack with itself.
  • Unforseen: When you perform the Disrupt action on a generator, your terror radius is transferred to the generator for 22 / 25 / 30 seconds and its range is set to 32 meters. You are undetectable for this duration (no terror radius and no red glow). A cooldown of 30 seconds is then activated.
  • Undone: If a survivor fails a skill check while healing or repairing, you gain 3 points, up to a maximum of 18 / 24 / 30 points. If you use the Disrupt action on a generator and have meters, you use up all of them. For each counter, the generator loses 1% progress and is then blocked for 1 second. Then, when the generator is no longer blocked, normal regression begins. This perk has a 60 second cooldown.

The perks of Sable Ward, the new survivor

Like all survivors, Sable Ward comes with 3 independent perks that you can later unlock for all survivors via the Blood Network prestige system. Sable is also the first survivor to have one of the new “Invocation” perks. This allows survivors to complete rituals that activate a negative effect but also grant a strong bonus.

  • Invocation: Weaving Spiders: While you are in the basement near the ritual circle, press the action button to start an invocation. Invocations take 120 seconds. Other survivors see your aura and can join the ongoing invocation, increasing speed by 50% per survivor. If they have an Invocation perk equipped themselves, the speed increases by 100% instead. Once the invocation is complete, the following things happen:
  • You are injured and given the “Broken” status for the rest of the trial (=cannot be healed).
  • All generators immediately receive 9 / 12 / 15 charges of progress.
  • This perk will be disabled for all survivors.
  • Strength in Shadows: When you are in the basement, this perk is activated. You then have the ability to heal yourself without a medikit at 60% of normal healing speed. When you complete a Heal in the Basement, the Killer’s Aura will be revealed to you for 6 / 8 / 10 seconds.
  • Wicked: This perk is not implemented correctly on the PTB and will be revised before the release.
  • What else is in the patch? Aside from the two characters, the “All Things Wicked” chapter also comes with a new map, namely “Greenville Square”. This is an eerie and partially collapsed cinema hall with a small arcade, along with a fairly large outdoor area.

In addition, the “Mangled” status effect is being revised and now has a timer. So survivors can choose to cancel the effect by healing (which takes more time) or they can wait for the debuff to expire and then heal in less time but be wounded for longer overall.

How do you like the new killer?
