A lot is happening in the horror game Dead by Daylight. Big changes are imminent and will clearly stir things up.
The criticism of the current chapter “Tools of Torment” in Dead by Daylight does not stop. The community still criticizes the “Skull Merchant” – but there is also good news. Because Dead by Daylight seems to be ready to shake up the game again and make numerous changes. Taking all of these adjustments together, these are arguably the biggest adjustments the horror game has seen since the launch of Endgame Collapse in 2019.
Dead by Daylight Drops “Sensitivity to Light”
When Dead by Daylight was in its infancy, the developers built in certain interactions between the killers and various survivor items. So you could destroy the trapper’s traps with a toolbox. These interactions will now disappear, which primarily weakens the flashlight. That means:

The terror radius becomes visible
It’s actually just a small accessibility adjustment to allow players with hearing impairments to enjoy Dead by Daylight, but it should soon become a standard setting for all Survivors:
The terror radius and “lullabies” (Nightmare, Slayer, etc) are no longer only announced by music, but also represented by a red heart icon on the survivor. The stronger the terror radius, the more intensely the heart pulsates and the brighter the colors.
While developers say this setting doesn’t provide a competitive advantage, some doubt it. After all, there are always loud noises, such as screams or other effects that can drown out the sound of the terror radius. This will no longer happen in the future.
The most powerful perks are nerfed, as is healing
On both the killer and survivor side, there are some big adjustments to the most popular perks, but also to the overall healing of survivors. The time needed to heal is increased from 16 to 24 seconds – and all medi-kits “by default” only have enough charges for exactly one full heal. If you want more, you have to use the appropriate addons or perks.
Circle of Healing is drastically reduced. The perk no longer allows survivors to heal themselves without a med kit. Instead, it only increases the healing speed at which you heal other survivors and displays the aura of any wounded survivors that are within the circle of healing’s effect.
The infamous “Dead Hard” is also toned down. The perk now only becomes active after safely rescuing another survivor and becomes inactive once damage has been avoided – at which point the ability must be re-earned.
The killer perk “Call of Brine” will also be nerfed. It only increases the rate at which generators devolve to 125% going forward, down from the previous 200%.
A similar adjustment is also experienced in “Overcharge”. Again, the maximum speed of devolution is reduced to 130% and the penalty for missing the skill check is reduced from 5% to 4%.
All perk adjustments in detail can be found in the official Developer’s Update for March.
The blood web is finally getting good
Long-time players know the problem: you have 2 million blood points and can hardly keep up with spending them all. After all, you have to unlock every single reward in the blood web manually. That will soon be a thing of the past. A total of 3 new options are coming:
Overall, with these changes, it should happen much faster that you spend your blood points and thus have room to earn new points again.
How is the community reacting? Basically positive, at least on the game’s subreddit. While some mourn their favorite meta perks, there seems to be an understanding on both sides that the perks were rather unhealthy for the game and needed an overhaul.
There is a surprising amount of praise for the “visible terror radius”. Apparently there are many hearing impaired players in the community who are really looking forward to enjoying Dead by Daylight in the future.
How do you like these adjustments and changes?
