On Monday morning, the forest ranger found the dead animals in the forest area after an anonymous tip. The forest is located on the edge of the municipality of Amersfoort, near Hooglanderveen. “When I arrived I quickly saw the dead animals lying about 15 meters from the walking path,” says the ranger. This concerns a hedgehog, a buzzard and the eaten carcass of a rabbit or hare. He couldn’t immediately see it that way. “It was a striking combination, the buzzard and hedgehog were right next to the bait. The legs of the bird of prey were pinched, which seems to be a sign of poisoning.”
