The fact that the arrival of a supermarket has been ruled out for the time being will be disappointing for the thousands of residents of De Uithof, the area that is now called Utrecht Science Park. For years they have had to make do with the relatively small Spar supermarket, which students experience as expensive. The store’s range also leaves a lot to be desired. Residents therefore go out to do their shopping, which often takes extra time. This also applies to Ilse de Boer, who lives in one of the residential towers on De Uithof. “I now usually cycle to Bunnik or the center to do my shopping. This takes me 30 minutes longer.”
