What’s currently going on? A number of players are currently unable to log into Diablo 4 and start the game. you receive
Both players on the US and EU servers are affected. We also have the problem in the editorial office that we can’t log in because we don’t have a license. Restarting the game should help in most cases.
Update, June 25 at 5:30 p.m.: Blizzard is now saying again that it was affected by a DDoS attack. Furthermore, the connection to the servers is impaired.
Meanwhile, Blizzard has also adjusted the notice in the Battle.net client. Here it is now:
We are currently suffering from a DDoS attack which may result in increased latency and disconnects for some players. We are actively working to contain and minimize this impact.
Update, June 25 at 3:30 p.m.: Blizzard released another update via Twitter. Still investigating login issues:
Blizzard first reported DDOS attack, now talks about queues in Diablo 4
What does Blizzard say about this? Blizzard initially spoke of a “DDOS” attack that caused the problems. This can also be seen in the following reddit post, where the original overlay can still be seen in the Battle.net client:
But now Blizzard has changed the tone.
Blizzard already stated that there should be problems with Diablo IV at the moment. This is how the developers currently write (as of June 25, 2:50 p.m.) in the Battle.net client:
We are currently seeing unusually long queues for Diablo IV. We appreciate your patience while we work to get all heroes to Sanctuary in a timely manner. Please follow Blizzard on Twitter for more updates.
Twitter also pointed out that they wanted to investigate the problem and that there could be login problems:
We have embedded the current update on June 26th at around 3:00 p.m. above for you. Blizzard stated that they continue to work on the problems.
What is a DDoS attack? DDoS attacks or “Distributed Denial-of-Service” are attacks on networks. Because servers or networks can only process a certain number of requests. Hackers then use botnets to flood servers with requests until the server crashes.
So-called “zombie networks” with infected systems are usually used for this purpose. Such networks can target fraudsters in order to overload networks. By the way, this includes not only computers, but also many other household appliances:
Theoretically, all devices that can be controlled via the Internet. Hackers exploit weaknesses in the software of the devices to gain access to their computing power. The owner often does not even notice that their own device has been hijacked.
Diablo 4: Servers are online, but there are problems logging in
What is the current standing? Basically, the servers are online and you can also play Diablo 4 if you come to the servers. Most players report login issues and high in-game ping. A high ping means the server is taking a long time to respond to your actions.
The anger among the players is correspondingly large that they cannot play Diablo 4 in peace and tear demons at the weekend. Because you can’t play Diablo 4 offline and you always need a permanent internet connection.
