Final Fantasy XIV 2024 is set to receive a major new expansion, Dawntrail. We’ll tell you what’s in the MMORPG add-on.
Where does the information come from? On July 28, FanFest 2023 took place in Las Vegas. In a 90-minute presentation, Naoki Yoshida revealed what’s next for Final Fantasy XIV. The absolute highlight for many players is probably the new expansion Dawntrail.
In a short teaser you can already take a first look at the add-on:
A new continent, two new jobs and many upgrades
What’s in the new expansion? In Dawntrail, players are taken to the new continent of Tural, with the capital Tuliyollal at its center. Visually, the new region appears to be inspired by Mesoamerican and Indonesian culture.
In terms of content, the new expansion is intended to be a kind of “vacation” after the events of Endwalker. Yoshida explains the idea behind Dawntrail like this: “Not only did you just save all of Hydaelyn, you kind of saved the entire universe. So we thought we’d give you guys a little break.”
Thematically, “discovery” will be the focus, with Yoshida emphasizing that “diversity” was also one of the focal points in the development of Dawntrail.
When are you going to the new region? Update 7.0 and with it the Dawntrail expansion should make fans happy in summer 2024. You can read here whether it is worth getting into the MMORPG beforehand.
What else has been announced? The MMORPG will get two new DPS jobs. Rumor has it that it could be the Beastmaster, which is also being claimed by Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of the series.
With the update for coloring armor, you should be able to color each piece of armor with up to two colors in the future. It should also be possible to equip glasses and helmets at the same time.
In addition, Final Fantasy XIV will receive some major graphical upgrades that will come into play from 7.0. Characters are to be pimped up with revised textures for skin and hair and reflective surfaces are to be provided with corresponding textures.
