Dawn of War is one of the best strategy games on Steam, now part 4 could be in the works

A man visits the makers of Warhammer 40,000 in Nottingham and suddenly there are rumors about the comeback of a legendary game series. And only because he wears the right T-shirt.

What kind of game is that?

  • Dawn of War is a strategy game series in the dark sci-fi world of Warhammer 40,000.
  • The first part has already been published in 2004 and classic real -time strategy with base construction and many different factions from the Warhammer world. It is one of the best strategy games on Steam.
  • The successors were no longer so well received. Dawn of War 3 from 2017 was even discontinued just a few months after the release. Now there are indications of a return of the series.

    • Therefore the rumor comes: Dominik Dolenec visited Games Workshop in Nottingham in March 2025, the makers of Warhammer 40,000 (via LinkedIn). Dolenec is the managing partner at EMONA Capital, which, among other things, supports relic entertainment since they have become self -employed.

    Relic Entertainment is the studio behind Age of Empires 4 and Company of Heroes 3, but also the studio, which Dawn of War developed. Dolenec posted a picture in which he stands in front of a Statue of a Space Marine, wearing a T-shirt with a relic logo.

    At Games Workshop, Dolenec apparently met with Owen Rees, who in turn is responsible for the licenses of about Warhammer. Already in the comments on LinkedIn, questions about a Dawn of War 4 or a remaster of the first part have arisen.

    After the success of Space Marine 2, the Warhammer boss has already said that Game’s workshop is looking for the next big title in the franchise. A new Dawn-of-War part would not be excluded.

    Under no circumstances simply let the franchise die – not even according to Dow 3

    The first part of Dawn of War has an evaluation of 95 % over all reviews on Steam and is therefore “extremely positive”. A remaster has been demanding fans for years (via Reddit).

    The reactions to Reddit, for example, are rather behavior at the moment, possibly because the game is older and the series has not really gotten better over time:

  • Part 1 is generally considered the best part of the series
  • Dawn of War 2 already came with less base construction and new rules that not everyone liked
  • The third and last part was set only a few months after the release, not even the first promised DLC has come

    • Dawn of War 1 is now so old that fans could imagine getting a complete remake with a new engine, a few updates and new playable species. This would apparently press the right buttons for many in the community.

    However, some fans think: Games workshop would not simply let the franchise die. And with a view to the new Warhammer series with Henry Cavill, more games in Warhammer 40,000 would make sense.
