Thursday October 10, Rafael Nadal announced his retirement on social networks through a long video. Beyond his retirement, the Spanish player announced above all that he was going to participate in the Davis Cup final for the last tournament of his career. “I am very excited to announce that my last appearance will be in the Davis Cup Final to represent my country. I have come full circle with my first big memory, which was the Davis Cup Final in Seville, in 2004. I feel very, very lucky to have experienced all that,” explained the 22-time Grand Slam winner.
This final phase of the Davis Cup will pit the eight nations which qualified during the group stage, without France, eliminated a few months ago. Spain, Italy, the United States, Argentina, Australia, the Netherlands, Canada and Germany will be there.
