He grew up with his family in a free church. When David Liljegren from Lund met his boyfriend in a congregation in Malmö and when they became a couple, it had consequences.
– For example, you must not be in a leading position if you live openly as a homosexual, says David Liljegren.
May not lead the choir
David Liljegren lives an active life. He is politically active as a center party in the regional council and the education committee in Lund municipality. Under the auspices of the Free Church, he became a choir director and held Bible studies.
– I can’t do that anymore, then I’m not an example for the congregation and they don’t want others to take after me, so to speak.
What do you think about it?
– I think it is discriminatory. In Sweden, it shouldn’t be allowed to happen like this, says David Liljegren.
