Until November 2022, there was only one old rumor that North Korea’s supreme leader Kim Jong-Un had a daughter.
But then she made her first official appearance. At a missile launch, daughter Kim Ju-Ae accompanied her father.
She has since participated in several ceremonies at Kim Jong-Un’s side.
Speculation has since run rampant about whether Kim Ju-Ae, who is believed to be in her 10s, is Kim Jong-Un’s successor. This, among other things, after state media described the daughter with the words “loved the child” and “respected the child”. She also inherited the title of “General Morning Star”, which first belonged to her grandfather Kim Yung-ho who founded North Korea.
Now Kim Ju-Ae has made new appearances – next to the North Korean dictator.
Experts are stunned by the choice of words
Father and daughter were captured on picture after a visit to a greenhouse farm. The state-run KCNA news agency in North Korea then used “hyangdo” – a specific term that can be translated as “great person of guidance”. A choice of words that, according to AFP, causes analysts to react.
The keyword “hyangdo” is usually used only for the country’s leader and successor.
And the term was now used in the plural – in the reporting about father and daughter.
Analysts told AFP that it strongly suggests that Kim Ju-Ae will take over from Kim Jong Un as it is the first time that North Korea has used the specific word for the daughter.
On Saturday, Pyongyang also published a photo of Kim Ju-Ae standing with her father and senior military officials during an exercise with paratroopers.
The closed country has yet to officially name the daughter or state her age. But it is according to South Korean intelligence that her name is Kim Ju-Ae and was born around 2012 or 2013.
