BAC 2022. The baccalaureate begins in less than a week for mainland France, but the first specialty subjects have already fallen in Polynesia! Indeed, the specialty tests are the first step of the 2022 baccalaureate. We give you all the essential information.
[Mis à jour le 6 mai 2022 à 16h56] In less than a week, the final year students will take their first written baccalaureate exams. But that is the case in mainland France, in Polynesia the first subjects fell this Friday, May 6. Indeed, this 2022 session begins with the specialty tests. Thus, this is the first time that candidates have come up against this novelty introduced by the reform of the baccalaureate. Between May 11 and 13 (for mainland France), twelve tests, one per specialty education, will follow one another but candidates will only be assessed on the two subjects they chose to study during their first year. and that of terminal.
Metropolitan high school students can therefore revise by throwing themselves on the subjects that have fallen in Polynesia. For example, for the specialty test in history, geography, geopolitics and political science, students had the choice between three subjects: two dissertations (Judging genocides and mass crimes since 1945 / The conquest of space, an ideological and of power) and a review of documents (The stages of the action of human beings on their environment since the Neolithic). As for the economic and social science specialty test, Polynesians could choose to deal with the dissertation (How can we explain international exchanges?) or one of the two composite tests based on the study of documents.
If the exams are already a source of stress, this year the candidates are inaugurating the written specialty tests and some are apprehensive of being faced with their copy. High school students and future graduates will be able to count on the arrangements provided by the Ministry of National Education: two days of lessons entirely dedicated to revisions before the tests and above all, the possibility during the exams of having the choice on the exercises to be carried out. To offer candidates more chances of success, the ministry has ensured that for all specialties that allow it, candidates will be able to choose to answer certain questions or to be assessed on one exercise rather than another. If the choice relates to the form of the test, it also allows the candidates to compose on themes which inspire them and which they master because for each exercise the subjects approached will be specified.
This short exam session is only the first half of the tests that make up the baccalaureate, candidates will have to return to classes and revisions for the philosophy and oral exams scheduled between mid-June after May 13. and early July. The pupils of first year will have to rub shoulders with the written and oral French tests. As a reminder, the final exams of the bac represent 60% of the final mark, for the remaining 40% the games of each candidate are already made since it is a continuous assessment.
What are the dates of the 2022 baccalaureate specialty exams?
Once again the calendar of the bac exams has been turned upside down, while the specialty exams were to be anticipated and take place between March 14 and 16, they are finally postponed from Wednesday May 11 to Friday May 13. The Ministry of National Education justified its decision by the consequences of the Covid-19 epidemic on the start of the school year. By shifting the tests by two months, the ministry wanted to “preserve equal treatment between candidates and allow everyone to calmly prepare for these tests”.
If the tests are spread over three days, each candidate will only take two exams, those corresponding to the specialty courses studied in first and final year. Between the 11th and 13th, the high school students will all have either a day to breathe between the tests, or an additional one-day period to revise before the exams or they will leave with a day in advance of the test session. This detail is to be taken into account to get in good condition before the exams and especially to manage your stress. Here are the scheduled time slots for each written test according to theStudent :

What subjects for the specialty tests?
Each specialty test, whether specific to the general baccalaureate or a technological baccalaureate, has its own programme. The candidate is therefore likely to be assessed on all the subjects studied during the year. The workload can also be heavy for the 2022 baccalaureate, the ministry has decided to lighten the revisions of the candidates a little. In each specialty teaching, he has divided the themes of the program into three categories: subjects reserved for examinations in even years, those assessed only during odd years and the essential and/or main themes which may fall in the final examinations each year. To find it, the Ministry of National Education website shared his new subject-by-subject classification.
Candidates will have between three and four hours to compose on each specialty test but once is not custom, the course and content of the exams are specific to each subject. For all the written tests and depending on the teaching assessed, the candidates will have to answer questions, solve problems, carry out various exercises or even write essays. One thing is certain “these specialty tests will include adjustments to their subjects, which will always guarantee the candidate a choice, whether between questions or between exercises”, promised the Ministry of National Education on January 28. Concretely, the subjects will submit several questions or several exercises to the candidate and the latter will have to choose to answer or to carry out a certain number of them. Be careful because some subjects will provide compulsory exercises for all candidates and others optional.
Most specialties are assessed on a single written test, but certain subjects, in particular science, include a practical exam which will take place a few days after the final test according to the timetables of each high school. For these practical exams, candidates must choose a theme at random from those proposed and demonstrate their mastery of the subject and/or their practical skills in front of a jury of professors. The Arts specialty test includes an oral test which is organized under the same conditions as the practical scientific tests. Find the details of the course of each test in our papers dedicated to the twelve specialty courses listed above.
When will the results of the specialty tests be published?
Given the postponement of the specialty tests to at least May, the results of the exams will be published at the same time as the others, i.e. on July 5, 2022. The marks obtained in the written tests of the specialty courses, and normally known in March, should be taken into account in the Parcoursup file. As a result of the postponement of the tests, it is ultimately the averages of each candidate in these lessons over the three terms of the first class and the first two terms of the final class that have been entered in the orientation files.
What are specialty exams?
Since the reform of the baccalaureate, the S, ES and L streams no longer exist in high school. And the baccalaureate is no longer just a set of written tests in all subjects concentrated in one week at the end of the year. From now on, the continuous assessment is taken into account up to 40% of the final mark and various tests (French, teaching of specialties, philosophy and great oral) make it possible to complete the evaluation at the end of high school.
The specialty tests correspond to the choice of three specialties made by each high school student in first year. In the final year, he only keeps two and takes written tests on them before the end of the year. The results are of significant importance. Weighted 16 each, they correspond to 32% of the final grade.
When choosing their specialties, students have the choice between: arts; history-geography, geopolitics and political science; humanity, literature, philosophy; literature and languages and cultures of antiquity; Foreign and regional languages, literatures and cultures; math ; digital and computer sciences; chemical Physics ; economics and social sciences; engineering Sciences ; Life and earth sciences ; biology-ecology sciences.
