Dark game on Steam is like Yu-Gi-Oh! against an evil grandpa

Are you looking for a difficult card game on Steam with various deckbuilding options and a dark story? Then we have just the thing for you. In the game “Inscryption” you play a Yu-Gi-Oh!-like card game against an evil grandpa and if you lose, you die.

What kind of game is Inscryption? Inscryption is a dark, roguelike card game from the developer
Daniel Mullins Games. You play for your life in this bloody, Yu-Gi-Oh!-like card game and have various means to achieve your victory. Your opponent is an old codger who stays in the shadows and likes to change his identity with masks for immersion. If you lose, you die and have to start over.

Our MeinMMO author Christos Tsogos looked at the game and had no regrets except for the burned faces of the bosses.

What constitutes Inscryption? In this game you find yourself in an unknown hut and have to fight for your life with a bloody deck of cards. As you win more rounds against a sinister figure, your deck will increase in powerful cards. You progress with your character across a playing field and get to know the power of Inscryption.

In particular, the function of the victims in this game is very reminiscent of the Yu-Gi-Oh! tributes. So if you want to summon a powerful creature, you have to sacrifice enough cards. Only then will you have enough resources to bring them onto the playing field.

However, if you are unlucky and the old geezer wants to defeat you with his unfair deck, you can use items to increase your chances of winning. Depending on what you have in your “backpack”, you can place your own body parts on the opponent’s scales, cut up cards or block attacks.

Depending on how far you advance, more bosses await you with creative displays and functions that want to make your life more difficult. In addition, the grimaces of these bosses are so violent that one or two things will be burned into your memory.

The game takes on a dark role with its design and atmosphere, which is emphasized even more by its story and the countless secrets. So if you want a more violent version of Yu-Gi-Oh! If you’re looking for a solution, Inscryption might be a strong alternative for now and then.

Which platforms is Inscryption available on? The game exists on Steam, PS4 and PS5, Xbox One and Series X/S as well as Nintendo Switch.

How much does Incryption cost? The game costs €19.99 on all platforms.

Is there an online mode? Inscryption is a single player game. So you can’t compete against your friends online. What there is, however, is an endless mode that is unlocked after completing the story.
