Dark crime series with a merciless addictive factor that doesnt

In 68 episodes, producer Eric Overmyer and crime writer Michael Connelly created the fascinating and at the same time brutally repulsive world of Detective Harry Bosch, who all too often describes the alleged city of dreams as the crime series Bosch City of Nightmares exposed.

That’s what the crime series Bosch on Amazon Prime Video is about

Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver) investigates as a police officer in Los Angeles and is regularly confronted with its dark side. At the side of his ambitious colleague Jerry Edgar (Jamie Hector), he fights his way through various crimes and also has to struggle with his personal problems.

Starting with the failed marriage to his ex-wife Eleanor, the relationship with his daughter Madeline – and last but not least the never-solved murder of his own mother, which has never left Bosch.

In Bosch we get to know the city of nightmares

Anyone who gets involved with the series will quickly notice that they are presented with a much rougher version of Los Angeles. Mysterious bone finds, complicated entanglements with the mafia and morbid secrets of Hollywood’s rich and famous are the order of the day for the protagonist Harry Bosch.

Both Bosch and his series can usually be found in an ominous mood. The series creators succeed in doing this within a classic crime thriller setting to build exciting, unpredictable cases. These are usually illuminated from different perspectives of those involved, which makes the puzzles in front of the screen all the more dynamic.

The crime series offers additional dramaturgical fire through Bosch’s past, which primarily revolves around the never-solved murder of his mother and which also manages to captivate the audience over several seasons.

The Bosch universe is developing a dark undertow

Titus Welliver plays a wonderfully grumpy investigator who stoically digs through the muck of society and doesn’t give up, whatever he finds along the way. Nevertheless, neither Bosch nor his relatives, such as his younger colleague Jerry Edgar or his astute daughter Madeline, degenerate into clichés.

Over the course of seven seasons, the characters’ strengths and weaknesses are explored – and often played off against each other. Because also, It is not so easy to determine who is friend and who is enemy in this series. And there are some of the latter in Bosch’s world.

Anyone who keeps track of all the interpersonal intrigues and gruesome murder cases will be rewarded with seven seasons of high tension – and can look forward to the sequel Bosch: Legacy, in which the character continues his role as an investigator and delves further into the abyss of Los Angeles embarks.

Bosch premiered as an Amazon Original on February 6, 2014 and is available with an Amazon Prime subscription. The sequel Bosch: Legacy is available on Amazon Freevee.
