Daniel Ståhl’s powerful statement after the Gold of Achievements – “The Man of Steel” reveals the future plan: “It’s not…”

The longest championship throw of all time gave Daniel Ståhl the World Cup victory and the Gold Medal.
Here are the discus star’s own words about the monster throw in Budapest:
– It felt like my right arm weighed three tons, says Ståhl.

Daniel Ståhl was in a vulnerable position before the last round of the WC final when the Slovenian Christian Ceh was in the lead in the WC final in Budapest.

Then the Swede threw the discus 71.46 meters, the longest championship throw ever, and won the WC gold.
– It felt as if my right arm weighed three tons. I didn’t see how far it was, I just heard the crowd. It was a knife to the throat situation. Either I throw further or I don’t. Now I have to use every millimeter of my body and my long arms. It was magical, says Ståhl to the news agency TT.

“Pure psychology”

The 31-year-old describes that he was “a little nervous” before the first throw. Before the end, he would just enjoy. A result of having worked with sports psychologists before the WC.

How did the thoughts go before the last throw?
– I have experienced that situation a couple of times where I had to throw long at the last. They have taken that with them and gained more experience from it. Now I knew that anything can happen in a final. I am incredibly grateful for the help I received.

How were the feelings afterwards?
– I was just “speechless”. Completely speechless. It was a completely magical evening where everything just fell into place and as I said before, it was pure sports psychology. Trying to counter before the last throw.
– In the past, you have been too eager and taken on more physically than technically. Now I was incredibly collected and decided that now the hell I’m just going to think big moves and do everything I can. If I overstep, I will. But I didn’t. The best throw of my life actually, says Ståhl.
