When the mighty Swede sent off a terrible monster throw that flew a whopping 71.46 meters. WC gold for Ståhl and a new championship record was written at the same moment that everyone could only gape at what had happened.

It was athletics in its most beautiful clothes and Ståhl let loose all his emotions during the wonderful celebration. The giant throw also means that Ståhl is laughing all the way to the bank after collecting a large money bag for the WC gold.

Ståhl’s money

The International Association of Athletics Federations, the IAAF, distributes as much as SEK 766,500 to all WC gold medalists, which is twice as much compared to a silver medal. Even before the WC, Ståhl had earned around 250,000 kroner via the Diamond League, which means that he is now over a million for 2023.

There could be even more before the season is over because in September the Diamond League finals await in Eugene, USA. Then a victory in the discus can bring as much as SEK 330,000, which is three times more than a regular DL competition.
