The record on the bench

A year ago, Ståhl moved down to Malmö and now has Staffan Jönsson as coach. Together, they have really switched up the strength training to reach new lengths with the discus.
– We have some target weights that we want in the squat, deadlift and bench. If he’s there, we know he can throw far. He is a little closer to those weights now than he was at the same position a year ago. So now we have a little more time to get the same weight to move faster, to get him more explosive, says Jönsson to Expressen.

Ståhl has thrown 71.86 the longest in his career and with the new strength the Swedish athletics hero will reach even higher heights.
– If you manage this strength in the right way, with long movements in the discus ring, then there are no problems. Then it’s easy to get too excited when you throw, so that you tear and tear when you’re even stronger, says Daniel to the evening newspaper.
