The competition has increased and Daniel Ståhl does not go in with the same favoritism as he has done before. Despite that, he goes in as one of Sweden’s great medal hopes.

Daniel Ståhl is the big discus profile in Sweden. Someone who slipped a bit under the radar is Vanessa Kamga. Vanessa broke a new Swedish record during the qualification for the Olympics and has been one of the few joys for Swedish athletics during the Olympics. Vanessa Kamga enters the Olympic final on August 5.

“He’s Running Out”
Daniel Ståhl’s former coach Vesteinn Hafsteinsson spoke critically about Ståhl’s development. He said the following about the discus thrower Swedens radio:
– When I see him throw, I feel that it is empty. Daniel’s time is running out and I knew it was running out.

Daniel Ståhl responds to the criticism
In an interview with Aftonbladet, Daniel Ståhl comments on the criticism:
– I have not read it, but only heard a little about it. Everyone has opinions about Olympic champions and world champions. Everyone can think and think if they want. Everyone has opinions. He has his opinion and stands by it. We are twelve men who can throw really far in an Olympic final and the goal is to try to do the best I can.
In response to the question that the criticism comes from his old coach, he says:
– It does not matter. He has his opinion and everyone else has theirs. It’s part of the game.
