He’s not just an incredible hockey player.
Daniel Sedin is pretty good at running too.
This weekend he completed a brutal race – in almost 10(!) hours.
– I am very pleased and proud that I managed it, he says.
It’s been a few years since the Sedin brothers decided to put their skates on the shelf, but they haven’t exactly laid down on the lazy side. Recently, the twins were inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, and they have also taken a place in the Vancouver Canucks’ club management.
Completed the monster race
In addition, the twins, since their retirement from the NHL, have been noticed through several participation in running competitions. But the competition this weekend was extreme, even for Daniel Sedin. He competed for the first time in the brutal competition Ultravasan, which runs nine miles from Sälen to Mora.
Daniel Sedin was up to the challenge, and he finished in just over nine(!) hours.
– I am very pleased and proud that I managed it. The goal was to get under nine hours. But got tired at the end and the most important thing was to get to the finish line. I went out a little too hard in the first mile, but you get carried away by the competitive instinct, he tells Allehanda.
“Hope the brothers run”
Daniel Sedin believes that after all it was a nice experience, and even though he was really tired after the race, he wants to go back again.
– The wife asked immediately after the race if I would run the race again. “Never in my life, I said then, but the morning after I was charged again,” he says.
He also hopes to bring his brothers, the twin Henrik and Stefan and Peter.
– It will probably be next year as well. Will train differently with longer distances. I hope my three brothers run too, he says.
Victor Stenqvist won the competition, with a time of 6.19.07.
