Daniel Radcliffe prefers watching this to serious dramas

Since his rise to stardom thanks to the Harry Potter films, Daniel Radcliffe likes to seek out unique roles. This includes voice roles in adult animations, which the actor has a lot in common with.

Daniel Radcliffe prefers watching cartoons to lengthy reality series

If you watch animated series in the original English, you can often hear Daniel Radcliffe rather than see him. He has lent his voice to a wide range of animated characters in Robot Chicken, BoJack Horseman, Rick and Morty and more. For him, working on animated series for adults feels completely natural.

In an interview with CBR, he explains that he can do much more with it than with the live-action drama series. One hour running time per episode puts him off:

I think part of it is because I grew up with The Simpsons, like most kids of our generation, I think.

So instead of Breaking Bad, there are cartoons and shows for Daniel Radcliffe:

To be honest, I watch cartoons and reality TV. I’ve never seen Breaking Bad. I’ve never watched The Sopranos or The Wire. All that heavy one-hour stuff.

He finds the possibilities so much better and more varied in animated series in particular than in live action. He cites BoJack Horseman as an example – a series that would never work as live action and would be very depressing. Likewise, The Simpsons can only work as an animation. According to Radcliffe, the running gag in which Homer Simpson strangles his son Bart would be far too brutal in live action – but hilarious as an animation. Incidentally, he himself has been a guest on The Simpsons several times.

Daniel Radcliffe cameo in The Simpsons

Radcliffe is not surprised that more and more animated series are being produced for adults these days. After all, he was not the only one who grew up with them.

It makes sense that our generation, who grew up with The Simpsons, would want to continue watching adult cartoons as they get older.

Daniel Radcliffe’s current project is also an animated series. In the Netflix series Mulligan He can be heard as King Jeremy Fitzhogg. The second season was just released in May.
