Daniel Nannskog judges Jannes Andersson’s national team – honest words before the decision: “Sadly enough…”

Sweden has a tough situation if they want to reach the EC.
Now Daniel Nannskog sees Sweden’s chances like crazy.
– It feels almost impossible, says the SVT expert.

Sweden has not had the start to the European Championship qualification that they wanted. After three games played, Sweden has only succeeded in taking three points, after clear losses against both Belgium and Austria. This has put Sweden in a precarious position to say the least before the decision.

Dooms Sweden

Sweden has a whopping seven points up on Austria, who admittedly have one match more played, and add to that that you also need to get past the big nation Belgium to get to the European Championship. Only the two best countries in the qualifying group advance, and with five games left to play, it looks tough for Sweden, who also have Belgium away to face.

Daniel Nannskog, a long-time expert at SVT, is sure of what needs to be done for it to go the way of Sweden.

– There are five matches left, you almost need to go flawlessly in those matches. Maybe a point against Belgium is enough. But here against Estonia and Austria, there must be six points, he says.

“Can’t get away from it”

Sweden face Estonia, who are sitting on one point so far, on Saturday, and three days later an extremely key match against Austria awaits. However, Nannskog believes that Sweden will find it – to say the least – tough to come clean in the remaining five games.

– It feels almost impossible, he says.

It will be particularly difficult for Sweden considering how the form in the squad looks. In the last week, two centre-backs have been forced to leave the field injured, in the form of Hjalmar Ekdal and Victor Nilsson Lindelöf, and he is extra worried about the midfield.

– The question mark is in the central midfield. I can’t get away from it, says Nannskog.
