If you have Zlatan Ibrahimovic as a father, you have to face the fact that people will compare you to him. Eldest son Maximilian has experienced this.
SVT expert Daniel Nannskog thinks it’s crappy behavior from the media – but at the same time falls into the same trap.
– It’s damn unfair to compare him to Zlatan. Even if it’s his son. But there are similarities, he says in SVT.
Maximilian Ibrahimovic18, has made his debut in the Swedish U18 national team. He got to play for his home country at a camp in Spain. It was the first time that Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s son had to meet the assembled press corps and talk about his life.
“Hated football”
It’s a given that you end up in the spotlight if you have a father as famous as his. Just like Zlatan did during the last part of his career, Maximilian now resides in AC Milan – firmly in their youth team that plays in Serie C.
During the national team camp, he received several questions from the press about what it was like growing up with Sweden’s all-time best soccer player as a father.
– I hated football until I was eleven and thought it was the worst thing there was. I just hated it. Everything was wrong, I was always compared to my dad so it was just wrong. Then I found the love for the sport. When I turned twelve, I really started to like playing, he told Expressen.

Daniel Nannskog’s words about Maximilian
Over the years, it has been difficult for the 18-year-old to avoid all comparisons with his father. If the truth be told, they are still fairly similar in terms of play, and they are both strikers who love to score goals. But it’s still hard to expect too much from Maximilian, even if it says Ibrahimovic on his match shirt.
SVT’s football expert Daniel Nannskog doesn’t think the media should compare him to his father – but soon notices that it’s hard not to.
– It’s also somewhat the same movement pattern. Now we must remember that Zlatan was an extreme talent. It’s damn unfair to compare him to Zlatan. Even if it’s his son. But there are similarities. The balance. He has a good technique too, I think, Maximilian. But as I said, Zlatan’s technique was almost only he could have. That nice touch and technique and dribbling. You can’t compare like that, but he has a touch of it, he says in SVT and continues:
– It is clear that it can also accelerate and become even more. So a touch of Zlatan, definitely.

Of course you want things to go well for Maximilian Ibrahimovic, but right now we probably shouldn’t charge anything in advance or have too high expectations for the lad. He is not Zlatan.
