The snow cannon weather phenomenon is well known among meteorologists and was included in the forecasts earlier this week – and which, among other things, resulted in weather warnings from SMHI, traffic accidents and drift formation.
Snow plow Daniel Nordin and his colleagues are called out when the snow depth exceeds four centimeters on roads with a lot of traffic and seven centimeters on roads that are less used. Pedestrian and cycle paths are prioritized.
The night before Wednesday the same round was run and on Thursday afternoon and evening it is time again.
Coped with complaints
He doesn’t experience many complaints about the snowplows, although the day trips mean more traffic to consider.
– I think it’s more noisy if you do local streets and in residential areas. This is quite a rewarding drive, he says.
The municipality of Nyköping itself has approximately six vehicles running at the same time on this day. The rest consists of subcontractors and the vehicles sent out by the respective property owners.
