Dangerous item on Mall of Scandinavia

A dangerous object has been found at the Galleria Mall of Scandinavia in Solna.
The item, found on Sunday evening, has been taken care of by the national bomb protection.

It was at 21.50 on Sunday evening that guardians found a suspected dangerous object at Mall of Scandinavia in Solna, north of Stockholm.

– We had an ongoing effort on the occasion of a robbery and during that robbery, where both police and security workers, the guards find the object. We see no connection between the object and the robbery, says police spokesman Daniel Wikdahl.

At the time, parts of the mall were still open to the public, but all stores were closed. However, the mall did not need to be evacuated, as it shortly was closed as usual for the night.

Was judged as sharp

The national bomb protection was called in to take care of the object, which was later considered sharp.

– But in the form it had then, in this mall, there was no acute danger. Nothing could happen right then, as long as it was under surveillance. So there was never any danger to the public, says Wikdahl.

The police have no suspicions about terrorist offenses or the like. No person has yet been arrested.

– What we have done so far is a technical investigation at the site. We have collected material from various surveillance cameras, and with that as a starting point we will try to get a suspected perpetrator, says Daniel Wikdahl.
