Dangerous dog buns in Malmö – the hunt intensifies

In recent weeks, the bread buns have returned to Malmö and continued to terrorize dog owners. Reporter Joakim Palmkvist and his colleagues at Sydsvenskan have put together the group “Spårhundarna” to find out who is behind the crime.

– It takes an incredible amount of conviction to make several hundred buns like this, and a lot of time, says reporter Joakim Palmkvist in Efter fem.

Together with an FBI consultant, the “Track Dogs” group has developed a perpetrator profile.

– We wanted to find out what thought patterns are behind acting in this way on the limited basis we had from the start, where they are found and how they are manufactured.

Strike fear into a greater number of people

Sydsvenskan’s reporters have come up with the theory that whoever is behind the crime may suffer from a mental illness.

– Do you want to kill dogs? It is not entirely certain, you probably have another intention with what you are doing. They want to frighten, terrorize or terrorize a larger number of people, says Joakim Palmkvist.

Dog owner Niklas Krig is one of those affected by the concerns of the dog bullies in Malmö.

– It has been going on for such a long time that it is difficult for any dog owner to be able to relax. You are constantly on your guard and are constantly worried. It eats away at all dog owners in town, he says.

Niklas Krig’s dog Mico has made it. But he knows of a dog that ingested pieces of metal.

– When they x-rayed, they saw that his stomach was filled with metal stars. Fortunately, he managed and is recovering today, but it shows how easily and how quickly it can happen, says Niklas Krig.

The police in Malmö work from the hypothesis that there are several perpetrators with different approaches and in different locations. However, Joakim Palmkvist does not think so.

– My impression regarding the buns is that it is one and the same person. It is so specifically manufactured, it requires so much know-how, he says.

The legal expert: “Unique crime”

The Malmö police categorize the crime as aggravated destruction and vandalism. It is a category of crime that Jens Lapidus rarely encountered as a lawyer.

– It is a very unique crime. You cause damage to animals and nature. It is a danger offence, which means that you do not have to have actually harmed an animal, but it is enough that there is a danger of harm.

The motif

– I think it is a person who wants attention, who has felt offended for some time and wants to make a kind of impression, says Joakim Palmkvist and continues:

– The beauty of the crow’s song here is that in such cases that person leaks or has leaked. Someone somewhere knows who this is.
