Vision occurs when the rays coming into the eye first stimulate the retina layer and the visual center of the brain via the optic nerve. And vision is a learned condition after birth. A disruption in the neural excitation of the eye during infancy and childhood causes the visual cells to fail to develop and vision is impaired.
The reason is the lack of warning. If a situation occurs that prevents us from seeing in the early stages of life, the development of that eye stops and amblyopia develops. Lazy eye can occur in one or both eyes.
CAUSES OF LADY EYE
Many conditions can be counted as the causes of lazy eye. The most common condition is high hyperopia. If there is high hyperopia in the eye or if there is an asymmetric refractive condition, lazy eye develops because the eye cannot see well. If there is high hyperopia in both eyes, lazy eye may occur in both eyes. Sometimes, the condition can be noticed earlier in the form of eye shift. However, the most dangerous situation is in one eye and the other eye is intact. It is not understood without examination and causes delay in treatment.
Another lazy eye condition is cataracts occurring in one eye, in which case cataract should be treated with surgery as soon as possible.
Squinting, that is, strabismus, is also one of the causes of lazy eye. Since the image is not formed enough in the deviating eye, vision is also not sufficient. Another situation that should be considered by families is; eyelid drooping. The eyelid reduces the visual stimulus by closing the visual axis of the eye and can cause amblyopia in the eye. Conditions that create a risk of lazy eye in babies with low eyelids are those that require emergency surgery.
