Danger to life when electricity theft increases: “You could die in the worst case”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The risk of electricity theft may increase in line with the cold weather and the increased electricity prices. Grästorp Energi is one of the affected, where one of the cases was up in the district court on Tuesday.

In connection with meter replacements, it has been seen that people have connected a cable or splice cord before the electricity meter so that the electricity cannot be measured and charged – thefts that are downright life-threatening to carry out.

– I don’t understand that you dare to take that risk, both of being discovered but above all the danger in doing so. You can have a power failure and be seriously injured, in the worst case even die, says Erik Landqvist, grid manager Grästorp energi.

At Grästorp energi, it is believed that the risk increases that more cases will be discovered as a result of colder weather and higher electricity prices.
