Milan’s goal in the second leg of the quarter-final came just before half-time.
Home team Napoli lost the ball a bit outside the offensive penalty area and the ball ended up at Rafael Leão’s feet.
The 23-year-old Portuguese took care of the ball and accelerated.
Decent speed.
Leão danced, sailed and feinted his way past bright blue Napoli players all the way into the attacking penalty area before serving Olivier Giroud who raked in 1-0 for the visitors in an empty net.
Extra nice for Giroud, who earlier in the first half sent a direct weak penalty that did not result in a goal.
Milan’s Rafael Leão.
Speaking of penalties, with ten minutes of regular time left in the match, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia got the chance from eleven yards.
The Napoli star chose to go for Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan’s right corner, but Maignan also went there and saved.
Missed chance to equalize and missed opportunity to create nerves in the event.
The match eventually ended 1–1 after a late equalizer by Victor Osimhen (2–1 to Milan over two legs) and Milan are through to the Champions League semi-finals.
Real Madrid is also ready for the semis.
The Spaniards beat Chelsea 2-0 away from home and advanced 4-0 over two games. Rodrygo scored both goals in Tuesday’s return match in England.
