“In the beginning they find it exciting, but once they’ve seen it, they’re sold,” says Esther van Driel. The robot is about half a meter long. He has luminous eyes, his ears are speakers and he can sit and stand by himself. Esther is a unit manager in the hospital and regularly sees very anxious children on the ward. “Some walk into the hallway crying. Others become very quiet and withdrawn, but you also notice unrest.”
