Roope Hintz and Tyler Seguin led the Dallas Stars to a crucial victory over the Minnesota Wild in the first round of the NHL playoffs. Stars won 3–2 and leveled the wins in the match series to 2–2, as they advance to the next round with four ties. The match was played in Minnesota’s home arena.
When Dallas previously tied the wins at 1-1, Hintz scored a hat trick. That’s when he became the 15th player in NHL history to score a goal in a playoff game with both tied fives, power play and power play.
Now Hintz had an assist on each of Dallas’ three goals. Seguin made them first and third, both with groundouts. The winning goal was scored in 56:29. Dallas’ second hit was scored by Yevgeny Dadonovthis hit the assist point in addition to Hintz For Esa Lindell.
The defender who represented Dallas last season is still the star of Minnesota John Klingbergwho scored his team’s opening goal and assisted on the second, which he finished off Frederick Gaudreau. Gaudreau’s 2–3 reduction came with superiority in 58:40, but Dallas held on for the rest of the fight.
Dallas goaltender Jake Oettinger was again in the top draw, saving 32 times. He stopped, among other things by Marcus Johansson a great equalizing attempt 12 seconds before the end. Oettinger’s save percentage in the playoffs is 94.1.
– He was phenomenal. He makes big saves, especially in the away box. I don’t know what happened there a few seconds before the end, but that save was incredible, said Seguin Oettinger.
Dallas head coach Peter DeBoer cheered his team’s first chain Seguin – Hintz – Jason Robertson. He especially reminded that Seguin has managed to close a big gap in the number one spot when Joe Pavelski is sidelined with a concussion.
– It’s a big gap when Pavelski is gone. Roope was sidelined for a while earlier in the season, with Tyler jumping into the middle of the first chain to lead us through the thick of things. He’s doing it again now.
Hintz has scored 4+4 in four playoff games. He is Edmonton’s second in the playoffs points market Leon Draisaitl after.
In the Minnesota camp, on the other hand, the referee line of the match was especially annoying. Marcus Foligno sat on the ice during both of Dallas’ power play goals.
– It’s a joke. Does not make any sense. I’m going to tackle the guy who touches the puck. It’s not blocking. This is horse shit, Foligno opened up, among other things, about his coldness, which came from a tackle To Jani Hakanpää.
According to Foligno, the judges don’t accept the physicality of the playoffs, while Dallas has won the jury over with his appeal.
