Dak Prescott’s annual salary of 60 million dollars exceeds the salaries of other top earners in the league by 5 million dollars.
American football’s US professional league NFL gets a new pay cap, was reported by ESPN, among others on Sunday. According to ESPN sources, the Dallas Cowboys and the team’s quarterback Dak Prescott have reached an agreement on a four-year extension contract worth 240 million dollars, or about 216.5 million euros.
According to ESPN, it is the most lucrative contract ever in the NFL. Prescott’s annual salary of 60 million dollars exceeds by 5 million the league’s other quarterback and salary leaders, namely Cincinnati Joe Burrow’sof Green Bay Jordan Love and Jacksonville by Trevor Lawrence wages.
231 million dollars of the deal is guaranteed money, previously the record for such a fully guaranteed amount was held Deshaun Watson 230 million in earnings.
Prescott’s previous contract with the Cowboys covered four seasons and was worth $160 million. The Cowboys were in a hurry to secure a new contract, as Prescott would have potentially become a free agent after this season, and the league’s leading touchdown passer last season would have plenty of receivers.
