Dahl’s sprint gave victory: "I was alert"

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The long-distance World Cup race over 35 kilometers in Bad Gastein, Austria, came to a raucous end.

After approximately 19 kilometres, the field split and then it was just two riders: Swedish Ida Dahl and Norwegian Astrid Øyre Slind.

The duo stayed together until the riot.

Then Dahl changed pace, pulled away and was finally 4.9 seconds faster than the Norwegian.

“It has been hard,” says Dahl about the race in SVT’s broadcast.

— It feels like the snowfall is only increasing, but I felt that I was energetic in my body and I wanted to be far ahead the whole time. You never know what people’s tactics are, so I tried to stay high up.

Ida Dahl, second overall in Ski Classics last season, was on Saturday together with Linn Sömskar in the winning team when the World Cup started with a team tempo race.
