Dadgostar: Boycott the Spain match

She writes on X, formerly Twitter, that the Swedish team will not play the match in Gothenburg on September 22 in solidarity with the Spaniards. The Spanish WC players have said in a statement that they do not intend to play any matches if Luis Rubiales remains in his post.

To The evening paper party leader Nooshi Dadgostar (V) clarifies:

— The important thing here is that the Spanish national team is on strike. They do not intend to play as long as Rubiales remains. It is clear that he and people around him represent a culture that makes girls and women not want to play football, says Dadgostar.

Qualifying for the Olympics

She says that Rubiales leaving before the Nations League match is “out of the question” when it comes to a Swedish boycott.

— If he doesn’t do it, the starting point is that there will be no match. But should it be the case that the Spanish federation rounds off the players’ strike, if they reduce what the players want to say, then my opinion is that Sweden should not stand for it.

The Nations League game is also a qualifier for the Olympics next year.

“Is there a dialogue”

The national football team’s press manager Petra Thorén tells TT that the planning for the match in Gothenburg is ongoing.

“There is a dialogue between the associations, but it is about match planning,” she says.

Luis Rubiales kissed World Cup gold medalist Jenni Hermoso on the mouth after the final against England on August 20. He has received an enormous amount of criticism for that, and the International Football Association Fifa has also suspended him for three months under investigation. Rubiales risks suspension for many years from all football activities. Spain’s football federation has called on Rubiales to resign.
